NOVEMBER 2018 I PCB007 MAGAZINE 99 more companies to join the CFX demo produc- tion line to showcase the Industry 4.0 para- digm. PCB007 China: Regarding IPC standards promo- tion and training programs, what are the plans for this year's activities? IPC: With the Industry 4.0 and Made in China 2025 (MIC 2025) strategic plan in place driv- en by growing market trends, high-end elec- tronic assembling and manufacturing are get- ting better opportunities to grow. Whether Chi- nese electronics manufacturing companies can make full use of this opportunity depends on the application of advanced technology, train- ing, and process and production management. To help Chinese companies improve their high-end electronic manufacturing, IPC uti- lizes their world-leading standards technolo- gy, advanced processes, and technical resourc- es to invite domestic and foreign milaero, au- tomotive electronics, and software experts to China for technical exchanges. For example, we invited Continental and GM gurus to par- ticipate in the automotive electronics confer- ence in Shanghai and Shenzhen. Moreover, ex- perts from NASA and IPC headquarters attend- ed the aerospace and aviation conferences in Shanghai, Beijing, and Xi'an, and experts from the U.K. made the key- note for a telecommu- nications conference in Dongguan. These tech- nical exchanges pro- moted mutual learning between local and for- eign experts. To help domestic companies to realize the importance of em- ployee skills training and continuous edu- cation, IPC has been holding the hand sol- dering competition for ten years. This year, five competitions were held in China. It was re- vised in response to the high-end manufactur- ing needs to add rework. The podiums of China will be going to the United States to compete in the World Championship. This competition has trained a large number of highly skilled shop floor workers for domestic milaero, avia- tion, communication, automotive, medical, in- dustrial, etc. As first-pass yield improves, com- panies are aware that continuous education is crucial and they will benefit from it. Today, smart manufacturing has become a hot concept to invest in. IPC has gathered many international experts to take the lead in developing the CFX standard. During the 2018 LEAP show in Munich, the CFX demo line was launched with 16 exhibitors from China for the first time. CFX provides a unified inter - national standard and realizes smart factory data collection, transmission, exchange, and control between equipment and machines that are of different manufacturers at a low cost. Now, as the demand for high-end man- ufacturing of BGA and flex technology are in- creasing, IPC has reacted in a timely manner by developing the "IPC-7095 Design and As- sembly Process Implementation for BGAs," "IPC-6013 Qualification and Performance Specification for Flexible/Rigid-Flexible Print- ed Boards," and new services such as aero- space and aviation training.
