56 DESIGN007 MAGAZINE I AUGUST 2019 The first meeting of the Sonora Chapter in- cluded a presentation of team members and a brainstorm of ideas for accomplishing our vi- sion (Figure 2). Our vision is that members of the chapter will find a space to pursue further education, encourage the proliferation of tech- nical knowledge, and broaden their profession- al network. Some of the topics we would like to cover in the near future include: • Bringing in experts that could share knowledge to take full advantage of the design tools that are available to us (e.g., Altium) • Learn about emerging technologies in the world of electronic assemblies • Share previous experiences and challenges in the design, manufacturing, and testing of electronic assemblies Currently, all members work in Chamberlain Group's Nogales manufacturing plant, but we are looking for members from all over the state to join us. Please contact me at Roberto.Villal- ba@chamberlain.com if you're in the area and want to learn more about our chapter. Recent IPC CID/CID+ Certification Success by Stephen V. The instructors—including Mike Creeden, Cherie Litson, Kelly Dack, Paul Flem- ing, Dave Seymour, and me—have had great success in each and every class that has been held. Most importantly, I want to highlight the success of all the students who achieved their certifications so far this year. The student and instructor engagement has been excellent, and in some cases, the class ex- perience has been truly inspiring from much of the student feedback that has been submitted. For us instructors, the best feedback is when a former student contacts us after he/she goes back to their respective companies and ap- Figure 2: Sonora Chapter members.
