48 PCB007 MAGAZINE I FEBRUARY 2021 e IPC Education Foundation (IPCEF) takes pride in the accomplishments of its sec- ond year. e foundation focused on a variety of digital/virtual exposure and engagement ac- tivities to share information about the elec- tronics manufacturing industry. e founda- tion held 10 webinars covering a wide range of industry-specific topics and conducted 28 interviews with IPC student members, IPC emerging engineers, industry representatives, and IPC leadership, to share knowledge about career paths into the industry that led to blog posts, articles and social media campaigns. e foundation successfully reached more than 110,000 individ- uals and engaged with more than 5,500 indi- viduals through these activities. An IPC student mem- ber, Paige Fiet, president of the IPC Student Chapter at Michigan Technological University and graduating in December 2021 with an Electrical Engineering de- gree/BioMed application, was appointed in February 2020 as student member board liaison repre- sentative to the IPC Board of Directors. Elec- tions will open in the fall to identify the next candidate. e IPCEF will continue to create aware- ness of the careers the electronics manufactur- ing industry has to offer students in high school and college by providing them with opportu- nities to access people, courses, and knowl- edge in 2021.
