It scans the parameters detailed in the questionnaire for regularities and correlations to characterize various kinds of products. e process is performed at high speed to supply the customers with the quote they are looking for. On another level, this system is considered "semi-AI," meaning it constantly learns new parameters and manipulates the new data into new protocols that would be in use for the next quotes. If production utilizes a new technol- ogy that the system is not familiar with, all it takes is to manually deploy it into the system until its repeated appearances form a strong enough statistical volume. When it comes to high-complexity boards, this short process is crucial for decision-mak- ers trying to avoid the need to go through a renewed DFM (design for manufacturing) process in the middle of production and can save delays and bad decision making. e pro- cedural order is of no importance when provid- ing a quote, much like an oven's temperature is secondary to the cost of the cake's ingredients and labor when determining the cake's price. Data is ubiquitous. We can guide, measure, and shape it to help create wonderful inno- vations, especially with the advent of AI and semi-AI. But every company must create— and adhere to—a solid data management pro- cess in order to turn data into actionable infor- mation. DESIGN007 David Gronner is director of OPEX and PPC for PCB Technologies. Chapter 4: A New Electronics System Design Solution Achieving performance excel- lence requires a solution that can provide forward-looking estimation and predictability of downstream physical effects during the design exploration phase, overcome the bottlenecks of using multiple tools, and one that uses automa- tion excellence. At advanced pro- cess nodes, circuit design/imple- mentation schedule and timing convergence remain challeng- ing tasks during the physical design phase. Additionally, the placement stage can be one of the most important and time- consuming steps in the physi- cal design implementation flow as circuit timing and routing congestion must be consid- ered at this stage. Therefore, to consider physical layout effects during the circuit synthesis phase, it is preferred to adopt a full flow, which bridges the quality gap between physical-aware circuit synthesis and physical placement for reduc- ing design iterations. Tools for new architectures and the complexity of advanced designs must be able to identify and leverage the strengths of computational flow algorithms. They must bring them upstream through a unification flow to miti- gate the challenges. To curb the issues that delay the market entry, engineers must be able to foresee and fix issues at an early phase and not when manufacturing. There must be a system in place to perform simula- tion before manufacturing. To download this free I-007eBook, click here. To view the entire I-Connect007 library, click here.
