50 Celebrating 30 Years of Connecting the Wire Harns Indury As the Wiring Harness Manufacturer's Associ- ation (WHMA) celebrates its 30th anniversary this year, we're taking a "look back" to the vision of nine wiring harness manufacturers that came together to create the association in the fall of 1993. E xe c u t i v e s f r o m U n l i m i t e d S e r v i c e s I n c . , Montello Products, Spring Green Technol- ogies, Tay-Mor Industries, Inc., Oak Hill Engineering, Inc., TM Morris Mfg. Co., AES Interconnect , Monona Wire Corp., and Wiring Harness News formed WHMA's Board and made plans to hold its first annual conference in 1994. " W h e n W H M A w a s f o r m e d 30 years ago, we all agreed that a trade association was one of the elements that was missing in the cable and wire harness industry," says Norm Sagon, a found- ing member and former WHMA Board chair. "We felt that if we could develop such an organization, the association could serve many of the common needs of wire harness companies and could act as a clearing house for new ideas, networking, and best practices. Today, WHMA has grown into a well-respected association, leading, educating, and connecting the global cable and wire harness industry." The only trade association exc l u - s i v e l y r e p r e s e n t i n g t h e g l o b a l cable and wire harness manufac- turing industry, WHMA is dedi- cated to providing members with technical support, access to lead- ing-edge techn o l o g y, b e n c h - m a r k i n g , a n d n e t w o r k i n g opportunities with the leaders in wire processing equipment, services, and manufacturing. No matter what challenges lay ahead for our industry, the strength of our volunteer leadership and commitment to serving the needs of our mem- bers will continue to be the hallmark of WHMA for many years to come.
