36 I-CONNECT007 I SHOW & TELL MAGAZINE 2018 The Dieter Bergman IPC Fellowship Award was established in 2015, the year after Dieter passed away. Noted for his tireless efforts on committees and at promoting IPC and the elec- tronics industry, Dieter was an inspiration to all who knew him—and a tough act to follow. IPC describes the award as follows: The Dieter Bergman IPC Fellowship Award is given to individuals who have fostered a collab- orative spirit, made significant contributions to standards development, and have consistently demonstrated a commitment to global stan- dardization efforts and the electronics indus- try. Each recipient will be eligible to bestow the Dieter Bergman Memorial Scholarship upon the university or college of his/her choice. This year there are two recipients: Steve Tis- dale and Linda Woody, both semi-retired and consulting, but both still very active in IPC standards development. In talking with them I could feel the tireless energy and hear the com- mitment. Everywhere the conversations were sprinkled with committee talk and what still needs to be done. First, my conversation with Steve Tisdale. Patty Goldman: Steve, congratulations on receiv- ing IPC's Dieter Bergman Fellowship Award. Let's start with a little bit about yourself, your career and your involvement in IPC activities. Steve Tisdale: I've been in the electronics indus- try for approximately 41 years. I've worked for companies like General Electric, Honeywell, Steve Tisdale Dieter Bergman IPC Fellowship Award Recipient by Patty Goldman I-CONNECT007
