On her start in the industry, MacKinnon said, "It was a huge learning experience, and it still is because when I got out of college I didn't know the PCB fab business at all. I'm still learning all the technical process terms, for ex- ample. I worked with Henry Brzeski, who is our equipment engineering and facilities man- ager, and started doing maintenance with him. Henry taught me a so much, and he still teach- es me how to troubleshoot the machines, do maintenance, re- place parts." MacKinnon spent about six weeks training on the drill ma- chinery in Rodermark, Germa- ny, at the Schmoll facility. At this point, 14 months into her tenure at GreenSource, MacKinnon is establishing her growing expertise in both me- chanical and laser drilling ma- chinery. During our time on site, we observed MacKinnon working extensively on a CO 2 laser drill machine, with a seri- al number of one. Concerning his start at GreenSource, and in the indus- try, Jalbert said, "I've traveled to Poland, Germany, and Ja- pan training on all this equip- ment…I've been hands-on since the equipment was deliv- ered." Chassé explained one of the more intangible parts of work- ing with younger engineers. "Sometimes they don't know the urgency. As one of the vet- erans I have to lead by example and express the urgency and that, when I need them, I need to trust that they're going to re- spond. And they have. It's all part of learning. That's what they're learning: how to work in a fast-paced environment. I have to keep my mind open to learn new stuff from them." Including the Family MacKinnon and Jalbert have been in a rela- tionship since college. Now they both work at GreenSource. Mark and Chris Chassé are the multi-generational father-son duo in the plant. LaClair is a newlywed—her spouse is also em- ployed by Whelen Engineering.
