82 PCB007 MAGAZINE I JULY 2023 5. Use an assessment test to identify strengths and weaknesses. Several assessments are available today that can help identify strengths and weaknesses in a candidate's so skill set. DISC, Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, and StrengthsFinder are just a few. Depending on the nature of the position, these can be invaluable in establishing and pro- tecting the chemistry of a team. If the role requires a heavy emphasis on influencing team members (project man- agement) and communicating across orga- nizational lines, consider including others in the interview process to gain a more well- rounded perspective. Conducting interviews in different settings (within the office, over lunch, out for coffee, etc.) can also help you identify how they present themselves to oth- ers. It's amazing how much you can tell about a person by observing how they interact with others. Technology projects thrive on collabora- tion and teamwork. When so skills are strong within the team, higher levels of collabora- tion are possible, knowledge is shared, qual- ity tends to improve, and innovative ideas are given the opportunity to breathe. So skills play a pivotal role in fostering an environment where creativity thrives, chal- lenges are conquered, and customer loyalty is cultivated. By valuing and nurturing these skills during the hiring process, tech companies pave the way for continuous improvement, adapt- ability, and disruptive innovation.
