Guest Editor Kelly Dack meets with Product Specialist Erik
Bateham of Polar Instruments to discuss Polar's latest technol-
ogy, including their role in aiding manufacturing engineers.
They highlight the advanced capabilities of Polar's tools, the
critical role of signal integrity analysis, and the importance of
accurate modeling in board manufacturing.
At IPC APEX EXPO 2024 in Anaheim, California, five competitors squared
off to determine who was the best of the best at PCB design. As final-
ists in the third annual IPC Design Competition, the five designers were
invited to IPC APEX EXPO to compete in a five-hour layout challenge to
place components and route a board compliant with relevant IPC stan-
dards. As part of the finals heat, competitors used Altium Designer, and
a project was provided with stackup and board geometry complete, with
certain critical components pre-placed. Dinesh G. took first place.
"Q1 was a strong start to the year for
Cadence as we delivered solid Q1
results," said Anirudh Devgan, president
and chief executive officer. "I'm pleased
with our record Q1 backlog that reflects
our broad-based strength and product
leader-
ship. We're
thrilled with
the momen-
tum of our
Cadence."
IPC has successfully
championed the rec-
ognition of the PCB
Design Engineer as an
official occupation by
the U.S. Department of
Labor (DOL). This pivotal achievement not only
underscores the critical role of PCB design engi-
neers within the technology landscape, but also
marks the beginning of a transformative journey
toward nurturing a robust, skilled workforce
ready to propel our industry into the future.
