The new engineering and production facility is a $16.4 million expansion designed to do serial produc- tion manufacturing and expected to increase Weidmuller USA's engineering and production footprint in the U.S. by 24,000 square feet. Weid- muller USA expects to be a leading supplier for Industry 4.0 and the future of engineering and manufacturing in the United States. The new building features solar panels generating 392,000 kWh annually, high-efficiency HVAC, recycled materials, and EV charging units (AC Smart). Part of Weidmuller USA's job creation will be provided through the Virginia Talent Accelerator Program, a workforce initiative in collaboration with the Virginia Community College System, with funding support from the Virginia gover- nor's administration and the Virginia General Assembly. "As we scale up our engineering and manufac- turing operations in the U.S., the Virginia eco- nomic development program will help us with recruitment," Phil says. "Training and retaining people are essential to the business's success. Looking at servicing the grid and electrical infra- structure in the U.S. and staying true to what we are good at—assembly—and we expect growth to increase as we look to renewables locally and invest in new technology.
