DECEMBER 2024 I SMT007 MAGAZINE 57 Without a doubt, the biggest challenge we face today is finding, hiring, and keeping the right people. With this in mind, I will be dedicating my next three columns to finding and nurturing the right individuals for engi- neering, quality and manufacturing. This month, we begin with how to hire and keep the right people, so they become productive engineers. Global revenue for the DRAM module market reached US$12.5 billion in 2023—a YoY decline of 28%. This drop was primarily attrib- uted to the inventory correction period for correction period for consumer electronics following the pandemic, which drove down DRAM prices. High utilization rates by DRAM suppliers further intensified the price decline, before the market began to rebound in the second half of 2023. A growing problem in this area has been the sheer increase in production output from the SMT line. As components get smaller, PCBs will continue shrinking, allowing engineers to design highly panelized products. SMT processes such as printing, placement, and 3D inspection have kept pace with these developments, while traditional testing methods have not scaled to the same degree. In today's intercon- nected global marketplace, counterfeit electronics pose a significant threat to industries ranging from aerospace and defense to healthcare and telecommunica- tions. As counterfeiters employ increasingly sophisticated techniques, the need for robust strategies to prevent, mitigate, and identify counterfeit components has become critical. Crown Technical Systems has nearly three decades of experience solving the most pressing power distribution and control challenges. It has extensive capabilities in modular solutions, medium- voltage switchgear, control, and relay products.
