10 PCB007 MAGAZINE I JANUARY 2025 Feature Interview by Marcy LaRont I-CONNECT007 In today's rapidly evolving technology land- scape, it's crucial to prepare the next genera- tion for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead, especially in the field of electron- ics. Dr. Lisa Burns is the career and technical education (CTE) coordinator at Fremont Uni- fied School District in California, where sev- eral middle and high schools are participating in Project Lead the Way, a specialized curric- ulum involving partnerships among schools, industry, and higher education. Having a career in tech before moving into education, Lisa has maintained that passion as she now works with industry partners to inte- grate educational curriculum with hands-on projects, mentorships, and internships. Lisa and her colleagues are just one example of the work being done by many secondary schools across the United States to ignite passion, fos- ter innovation, and open young minds to the myriad career possibilities in electronics. Marcy LaRont: Lisa, it's nice to meet you. Tell me about your background. Lisa Burns: is will be my 20th year in edu- cation, but prior to that, I spent 20 years in business and industry, working in areas rang- ing from inside and outside sales to marketing communication, human resources, and merg- ers and acquisitions. My final years working Bridging Career Pathways in Electronics
