Today, we offer multiple routing options embedded within the CR-8000 Design Force platform and Dragon EX routing engine, as well as in eCADSTAR. ese tools are designed to work alongside the designer, not in place of them. For example, once a proper layer stackup is defined and constraints are applied to critical nets—such as differential pairs, DDRx busses, and clock lines—designers can use autorouting to fan out and escape-route high-pin-count BGAs, then move directly into routing sensitive nets. e autorouter automatically generates a routing strategy based on those constraints, which the user can fine-tune to fit their workflow. We recognize that traditional setup pro- cesses have been complex. at's why we're now introducing a more intuitive interface using AI, significantly reducing the setup bur- den, especially for less experienced users. We're not just focused on what works today. 12 DESIGN007 MAGAZINE I JUNE 2025 Our roadmap includes AI-driven enhance- ments that learn from previous designs to opti- mize routing strategies. is corporate-level design intelligence helps build consistency across projects and teams while accelerating the path to clean, manufacturable artwork. Many designers still prefer a piecemeal approach by tackling complex routing by hand. at's fine, but with smarter tools, integrated AI, and data-informed strategies, we're mak- ing autorouting more accessible, intelligent, and valuable than ever before. The AIPR announcement a few years ago laid out plans to add increasing amounts of AI over time, and what you called "autonomous" control. How is this rollout coming along? We're making steady progress, though we've started referring to our approach as collabora- tive AI rather than "autonomous." at distinc- tion matters. We're not building a black box; we're building an intelli- gent partner that supports the designer throughout the workflow. A good example is our mimic router, intro- duced recently. It rec- ognizes routing pat- terns—especially in repetitive designs like phased arrays or modular layouts—and replicates manual routing concur- rently while accommo- dating for small obsta- cles. Designers stay in control, but now they can replicate complex rout- ing patterns with a few guided inputs instead of hours of manual work. We're also applying AI to reduce setup time. Instead of requiring the Figure 1: Using Pin Discover in the mimic router to identify matching patterns, manual routing is applied once, then automatically propagated across similar sets.
