C O M M U N I T Y M A G A Z I N E 7 5 S U M M E R 2 0 2 5 Upgraded Rules and Technical Innovations As technologies like AI, 5G, IoT, and smart devices advance, product complexity and process precision raise the bar for assembly talent. The 2025 IPC Mas- ters introduced a series of upgrades to its structure, equipment, and evaluation system: • Transparency in Rules For the first time, competition drawings, BOM, and complete rules were released to all finalists one month in advance. This move—compared to previous years when materials were released just before the event—greatly improved transparency and allowed companies and contestants to better prepare. Several companies promptly launched internal training and targeted practice programs after receiving the materials, transforming the competition into a structured opportunity for workforce development. • AI-powered AOI Scoring Debut The HSRC track integrated an automated optical inspection (AOI) system for the first time, applying high-speed image analysis and deep learning algo- rithms to evaluate solder joints and circuit quality. Each assembly kit was automatically scored by the B I T S & B Y T E S AOI system, generating a comprehensive digital report. This not only improved scoring efficiency but also enhanced fairness, objectivity, and trace- ability—providing valuable insights for post-event reviews and future training. • Wire Harness Tester Powers the CWAC Track The CWAC track was also significantly upgraded with the introduction of an advanced wire har- ness tester. This device condensed multiple manual testing steps (continuity, insulation, and signal testing) from minutes to under a minute. Real-time waveform visualization on large screens allowed the audience to "see" the testing process and results, enhancing technical transparency and viewer engagement. Onsite Stories: A Symphony of Youth and Craftsmanship According to data from the 2025 competition, the average age of participants was 32 years, reflecting a dynamic structure of active young professionals and experienced engineers. This balance underscores the vitality and depth of talent within the industry. One of the youngest contestants, Qingqing Han from Shennan Circuits Company, demonstrated calm focus and solid technique throughout the competition, exemplifying the new generation's profession- alism and passion for electronics manufacturing. "The IPC Masters isn't just a chance to showcase technical skill—it's where I truly saw how IPC standards apply to precision manufacturing," she says. "With seven years of Global Electron- ics Association-related expe- rience, I've built a solid foun- dation, but this competition pushed me beyond daily rou- tines and gave me fresh insights through peer exchange. The rigorous procedures and scoring will help us refine our internal training systems and strengthen talent development."
