Hall: I totally agree with John. We need to start with a great spec, understand what's out there and what we're trying to do, and work with the supplier for advice. We certainly had a lot of awesome folks working with us on this project. If it meets the spec but doesn't meet our needs, okay, great, let's fix all of that. Let's take the next step. That's where there is such value in having a partner who understands what we're trying to do, how our entire system works together, and what constraints we have. How can we go about fixing this or making it better together? It goes to your point, though, about choosing the right partner at the beginning; when condi- tions do change, you want a partner that will sup- port you through that. They may need to mod- ify equipment, you buy an upgrade, or in some cases, you may just take it out. Those are the tough moments that really test relationships. Every supplier, every fabricator faces this. Hall: Right. SEL has a very long history and phi- losophy of supplier partnership, we all own those relationships. Our supply chain management team does an awesome job of helping shepherd and cultivate those, helping us choose the best sup- plier for what we need. Looking Ahead and Lessons Learned What does the horizon look like three to five years out? Hendrickson: Our trajectory is to double every five years. Historically, that is what we've done. That gets more challenging every five years. Hendrickson: It does become more challenging, but that's what makes the work exciting. Along with increasing output, we also need to keep focused on the emerging technologies and ensure we are aligned with our R&D teams. Hall: As for the company, we are looking at what emerging technologies we can support. Power consumption and management for AI is a huge one. We've also started supporting the land mobile radio market, we already have products that work very well for them. So, it's more about learning their language to be able to work with them well. For our vertical integration team, we're always looking at how can we best support the changing supply chain? We look at what we should expand on or support to reduce the risk of supply chain vulnerabilities for SEL so that we can continue to support our customers well. 38 PCB007 MAGAZINE I AUGUST 2025
