16 PCB007 MAGAZINE I OCTOBER 2025 Sustainability as a Competitive Edge Sustainability has moved to the center of global trade. According to the World Economic Forum, over 800 large Chinese companies have pledged to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050 2 . On Oct. 23, 2024, China's National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) released a Work Plan on Car- bon Emission Statistics and Accounting 3 , requiring national and provincial reporting systems by 2025. For Global Electronics Association member com- panies in the region, these policies are more than compliance requirements; they are pathways to competitive- ness. European carbon tariffs and U.S. supply- chain standards mean that green innovation is now as decisive as cost efficiency. Many Chinese firms are already adopt- ing international cer- tifications, improving energy efficiency, and investing in recycling and low-carbon production. The Dual Market Advantage Another key strength is China's domestic market demand. Electric vehicles, 5G networks, and AI hardware are fueling a large internal market that offers resilience against external shocks. This dual circulation model—serving both domestic and inter- national markets—ensures stability while reinforc- ing China's global role. Conclusion The Global Electronics Association is concerned with the health and well-being of our industry at large, working toward a place where all members of our interconnected industry can thrive. From our per- spective, China's electronics sector is not retreat- ing but repositioning. By diversifying geographically, embracing sustainability, and leveraging domestic demand, our industry is adapting to the realities of a more complex global trade environment. It is erroneous to suggest that China is replace- able in the electronics supply chain. Collaboration will define the future under new terms: greener, more transparent, and more resilient supply chains. PCB007 References 1. Prismark posted these results on LinkedIn in July. 2.
