OCTOBER 2026 I I-CONNECT007 MAGAZINE 33 who waits to call until after the delivery date moves. They find out which suppliers understand their pro- grams and which simply process purchase orders. They find out who has meaningful manufacturing relationships, who has options, who has the finan- cial strength to act, and who takes ownership when something goes wrong. That can change supplier relationships quickly. It's also why periods of uncertainty can create signifi- cant shifts in market share. Customers aren't neces- sarily looking for different PCBs. They're recon- sidering what they expect from the companies supplying them. Price will always matter. So will quality and delivery. But transparency, technical expertise, optionality, finan- cial stability, proactive communication, and account- ability are becoming important parts of the equation. The Supplier's Job Has Changed None of us can predict the next disruption. Today's challenge might be material availability. Tomorrow, it might be capacity, tariffs, logistics, geopolitics, or something none of us are discussing yet. Trying to predict every disruption isn't realistic. Building an organization capable of responding to them is. That requires strong engineering, the right manufacturing relationships, financial stability, good information, and the ability to move quickly without sacrificing quality. But it also requires a change in mindset. The PCB supplier can't simply be the company that delivers the board. We have to be willing to help customers anticipate what's coming, understand their options, reduce complexity, and execute when circum- stances change. At MCL, we describe that commitment as where demanding PCB programs meet relentless execu- tion. But that isn't about making the supplier the hero. The customer is the one with a product to launch, a production schedule to protect, and a commitment to keep. Our role is to give them the engineering, information, options, and execution they need to succeed. Because when require- ments are demanding and the market is uncertain, customers don't just need boards. They need a partner who executes. I-CONNECT007 Dan Thau is CEO of Millennium Circuits Limited (MCL), a PCB supply chain partner helping engi- neering, procurement, quality, and manufacturing teams execute demanding PCB programs.
