As these are mainly cost-driven functions, time will tell when high- end cars will install embedded devices for more robustness and higher functionality. Gold coins are one of the traditional meth- ods to save money and to avoid devaluation of any currency. Gold coins are also traded when cash is needed. However, it is not easy to de- fine whether the gold content is according to the book value of the coin. Many traditional test methods are taking the gold coins in wa- ter to define the volume. A company in Germany has developed an electronic unit (Figure 18) to define the pure gold content of a coin.
