We must. Here's a taste of what we are working on this fall and hope to set up the new year for success. Dispensing technology has come a long way since the 1970s, especially with the advent of jet dispensing in the mid-1990s. Traditional methods involved contact dis- pensing, where a needle touched the substrate to deposit material. Jet dispensing, however, allows dispensing from a distance, improving preci- sion and speed. The SMTA announced that a new 101-level online train- ing course, "DOE 101: Design of Experiments," is now available in the training section of the SMTA website. Design of Experiments (DOE) is a tool that engineers can use to efficiently identify interactions between process factors to save time and materials, with the minimum amount of testing.
