74 SMT007 MAGAZINE I NOVEMBER 2024
No matter who wins the White House and control of Congress on Nov. 5,
IPC will continue working with members of both major parties to advance
policies that boost innovation, investment, and growth and ensure the
electronics manufacturing industry's long-term success. We must. Here's
a taste of what we are working on this fall and hope to set up the new
year for success.
Dispensing technology has come a long
way since the 1970s, especially with the
advent of jet dispensing in the mid-1990s.
Traditional methods involved contact dis-
pensing, where a
needle touched
the substrate to
deposit material.
Jet dispensing,
however, allows
dispensing
from a distance,
improving preci-
sion and speed.
The SMTA announced that a
new 101-level online train-
ing course, "DOE 101:
Design of Experiments,"
is now available in the
training section of the
SMTA website. Design of
Experiments (DOE) is a tool
that engineers can use to efficiently identify
interactions between process factors to save
time and materials, with the minimum amount
of testing.
