62 SMT007 MAGAZINE I MARCH 2025 tories. To enable these companies to demon- strate their capabilities, content has been added to the standard in Version 2.0 for these compa- nies to begin to list their products on the IPC- CFX-2591 Qualified Products List (QPL). Using the QPL, these companies can qualify their product to show their connectivity and support of IPC-CFX mandatory and optional capabili- ties for as many of the device types on the QPL (pick-and-place, reflow oven, SPI, etc.). Each QPL listing will show the equipment vendor model and equipment soware ver- sion that was used to qualify the legacy support system, as well as the soware version of the legacy support system. is keeps within the spirit of the QPL to demonstrate clear point- to-point hardware and soware connections. It also gives vendors of these systems the abil- ity to demonstrate their support for different equipment types using specific equipment models as examples. IPC plans additional announcements on these and other enhancements being made to IPC- CFX, Version 2.0, and the QPL, so stay tuned. Not to remain at rest, the task group will begin discussions on more equipment and capabilities to be added to IPC-CFX, Version 2.1 and beyond during their meeting at IPC APEX EXPO 2025. IPC-HERMES-9852 Standard Task Group Monday, March 17, 1:30–3 p.m. Beginning with IPC-HERMES-9852, Ver- sion 1.6, IPC and e Hermes Standard Initia- tive established an agreement to enable better synergy between the Initiative and IPC. is led to the IPC-HERMES-9852 Standard Task Group in 2024 with a goal to give a voice to the EMS users of e Hermes Standard in ongo- ing development of the Hermes standard. Until that time, the standard was managed exclu- sively by e Hermes Standard Initiative. Initiative members have been working on updates for IPC-HERMES-9852, Version 1.7, which will soon be available for comment to the IPC task group. Critical Components Traceability Task Group Wednesday, March 19, 8–10 a.m. e Critical Components Traceability Task Group is responsible for IPC-1782, Standard for Manufacturing and Supply Chain Trace- ability of Electronic Products. IPC-1782 defines best practices and requirements for tracking and tracing materials, components, and prod- ucts throughout their lifecycle within the elec- tronics manufacturing supply chain. e stan- dard is designed to improve quality, reliability, and compliance in manufacturing processes while supporting industry-specific needs such as counterfeit prevention, product recalls, and regulatory compliance. In 2024, an A-Team within the task group was in the very early stages of beginning Revi- sion C of the standard. eir primary objec- tive was to establish JSON structures for real- time collection of traceability data based on requirements of the standard. During the discussion at the strategy meet- ing, it was determined that a safer and best path for connecting IPC-1782 requirements to JSON structures would be to utilize and build off the well-established IPC-1750 series of dec- laration reporting standards, which are shiing reporting from xml to JSON. As a result, the A-Team broke ground on a project to map IPC-1782 traceability require- ments to existing IPC-1750 JSON structures and identify any gaps between requirements
