68 SMT007 MAGAZINE I MARCH 2025 Digital Credential Exchange Standard Task Group Monday, March 17, 3:15–5 p.m. As the need for exchange of data within a fac- tory/operation as well as to the supply chain grows, there is a need for a standard to set the framework for secure data exchange that allows for ease of implementation and the abil- ity to utilize multiple technology solutions (soware) providers. To address this, a new task group is form- ing to develop IPC-2592, Digital Credential Exchange (DCX). is standard will establish the framework, content definition, and secure interoperability mechanism for exchanging data and/or facts within a secure, credentialed ecosystem. Fur- thermore, it will control access to specific parts of the content based on provided credentials. e standardized cellular approach will eliminate the need for manual data process- ing, data translation, and middleware, provid- ing the opportunity for multiple developers of data exchange solutions (or add-ons to exist- ing solutions) throughout the industry to cre- ate automated tools in a plug-and-play fashion when following the standard. e framework defined in this standard will support the utilization of Digital Product Pass- ports, blockchains, digital twins, supply-net- work trust, material provenance, cybersecu- rity incident reporting, tracking of sustain- ability-sensitive materials, and other reporting requirements. During the APEX EXPO meeting, attend- ees will learn about this standard, the status of its development, and how to participate in a proof of concept for the standard. Cybersecurity Protection Standard Task Group Wednesday, March 19, 10:15 a.m. to Noon is task group is responsible for IPC-1792, Standard for the Management and Mitigation of Cybersecurity Incidents in the Manufactur- ing Industry Supply Chain, which establishes requirements for companies to provide assur- ance that their products have been manufac- tured in cybersecure environments, ensuring that there has been no risk of impact to the product due to any cybersecurity incident. An A-Team from this task group is develop- ing a white paper to guide industry on how to implement this standard into operations. Dur- ing this meeting, you can learn more about this standard and the white paper under devel- opment as well as how you can participate in future versions of the standard.
