Ucamco Seeks Comments
on Gerber Nested Blocks
Capabilities
Ucamco welcomes
designers' input
on its latest pro-
posal: to extend
the Gerber format with nested blocks capabilities.
The principal aim in doing so is to make panel def-
inition and handling easier and more efficient, and
it is most likely that this development will bring
additional benefits. Before this goes live, the com-
pany asks Gerber users to read the proposed new
draft specification.

The State of the Electronic
Design Automation Nation
We are the automation
nation. We are the high-
speed demons, the low-
frequency artists, the
mixed-signal designers
that make up the elec-
tronic design automation
industry. We spend most of our working lives be-
hind software, delivered to our fingertips with the
promise of making things easier, faster, better, and
getting us to our deadlines ever faster.

Rogers' John Coonrod on
Insertion Loss
John Coonrod of Rogers
Corporation gave a keynote
presentation at the recent
Geek-A-Palooza trade show,
concentrating on printed
circuit board fabrication's
influences on insertion loss.
I sat down with John to learn more about his pre-
sentation and what OEMs and designers need to
be aware of to avoid insertion loss.

Tim's Takeaways:
The Basics of Hybrid Design,
Part 3
We are seeing more and
more of our customers ex-
ploring the world of hybrid
design, and we are getting
new customers for whom
hybrid design is their sole
focus. And yet many de-
signers out there (and I
used to be one of them)
have no idea what is meant when people start
talking about hybrid design.
