Kamen founded FIRST to develop students' interest in STEM, and since then, I have been interview- ing and sharing stories of FIRST team mem- bers around the country. At NEDME, I stopped by the exhibit for Team 2898, e Flying Hedgehogs, and learned about their mission to promote and gain sup- port for their robotics team. In this interview, team captain Rae Wetzel and her team member Logan King provide useful insight for anybody looking to hire the next generation. Mechatronics is a field of engineering that delves into the principles of design and production of auto- mated equipment. The job merges a number of dif- ferent disciplines including electrical, mechanical and technology skills. As a mechatronics technician, you'll have the opportunity to be a part of the newest designs in advanced manufacturing. Working in this emerg- ing field means you'll combine the principles of mechanical technology and electronics to create inventive products and manufacturing systems.
