42 SMT007 MAGAZINE I FEBRUARY 2026 MIL/AERO007 Starfighters Space Completes Super- sonic Test Flights for GE Aerospace ⊲ As part of GE Aerospace's Atmospheric Test of Launched Air-breathing System (ATLAS) program, a Starfighters F-104 aircraft was used to conduct three successful supersonic captive carry flights from Kennedy Space Center. During the campaign, the ATLAS flight test vehicle achieved supersonic speeds, supporting the advancement of solid fuel ramjet (SFRJ) propulsion technology. Mitsubishi Joins Starlab as Major Space Station Customer ⊲ Through the Starlab space station and its sig- nificant payload capabilities, Mitsubishi will help accelerate space-based research in drug discov- ery, nano-medicine applications, new material development and next-generation semiconductor manufacturing. Airbus to Lead Spain's New Combat Training System ⊲ The Spanish Ministry of Defence has selected Air- bus Defence and Space to lead the development and implementation of the Spanish Air and Space Force's new combat Integrated Training System (ITS-C). Turkish Aerospace, as the manufacturer of the HÜRJET Jet Trainer, has as its primary objec- tive the replacement of the current F-5 aircraft fleet and the coverage of the entire advanced training process for Spanish combat pilots. CONFIDEE Joins SME4SPACE to Strengthen Europe's Compliant Space Supply Chain ⊲ CONFIDEE announces its membership in SME4SPACE, the European organisation represent- ing small and medium-sized space sector enter- prises. RTX Provides Blue Canyon Satellite for Interstellar Mission ⊲ A Saturn-200 minisatellite successfully launched in support of NASA's Pandora mission. The mission is designed to study the atmospheres of exoplanets, or worlds beyond our solar system, as well as the activity of their host stars. Lattice Materials Awarded $18.5 Million from the U.S. Department of War ⊲ This strategic investment directly supports national security priorities by strengthening domestic sup- ply chains for critical optical components used in defense applications that protect warfighters and advanced mission-critical platforms using airborne sensors, thermal targeting systems, individual ther- mal weapon sights, missile guidance systems and other electro-optical/infrared (EOIR) applications. Saab Receives Order for Artillery Locat- ing Radar from Sweden ⊲ The order includes the latest version of Saabs artil- lery locating radar system Arthur, with capability to warn for incoming indirect fire from a distance of up to 100 km. Saab will also perform vehicle inte- gration of the radar systems. Skunk Works, XTEND Expand Joint All Domain Command and Control for Advanced Mission Execution ⊲ The integration demonstration proved a reduction in total manpower for complex mission executions, removing the need for mission handoffs to lower- tiered operators, and improving situational aware- ness across the mission space. Boeing Delivers B-52 with New Radar to U.S. Air Force for Testing ⊲ The RMP upgrades are a critical part of the B-52's broader modernization efforts that will keep U.S. global strike capability ahead of threats through 2050 and beyond.
