40 SMT007 MAGAZINE I JUNE 2025 New IPC VP Joe Schneider Sharpens Focus on U.S. and Canada Interview by Marcy LaRont I-CONNECT007 IPC has hired Joe Schneider as a vice pres- ident to strengthen its regional focus and address the specific needs in the U.S. and Can- ada. Joe brings a rich background in OEM and contract manufacturing, including with indus- try giants like Siemens and Abbott Labora- tories. In this interview, he shares his vision for the region, which emphasizes workforce development and supply chain challenges. He's committed to fostering collaboration and driving positive change within the electronics industry as he embarks on this new journey. Marcy LaRont: Joe, it is great to meet you. What is your background, and how did it lead to IPC? Joe Schneider: I feel that my experi- ences have prepared me well for this position at IPC. I had a lot of great years at Siemens in multiple indus- tries and multiple businesses, always integrating new acquisitions, which was an exciting challenge. I also met a lot of great people there. At Abbott Laboratories, I launched diagnostic prod- ucts, managing every- thing that comes with the launch of a busi- ness division, such as supply chain management and developing the next generation of talent for many different areas. I really enjoyed that experience. I also have contract manufacturing experi- ence, with two great companies, Sparton and Flex. During my years in contract manufactur- ing, our manufacturing sites worked with IPC standards, so I grew to appreciate how critical IPC standards are in the electronics industry. So far, it's been a terrific introduction to IPC. ere are a lot of great people here, and I'm excited to contribute and help IPC build an even stronger future in the U.S. and Canada, leveraging the contacts and experience I have gained over these past decades. Though a global organization, IPC recently committed resources to ensure strong regional commitments. What are your objectives in this new position? IPC is global, and establishing this regional focus is really important for us to stay close to our members and understand what's happening. My most basic mission is to listen to our U.S. and Can- ada members and to work together with them on solutions for their future success. e mem- ber compa-
