36 SMT007 MAGAZINE I JUNE 2025 From its launch, the QPL has provided important information on vendor qualifications: Equipment vendor and model name is is vendor-supplied information about their qualified product. Vendor software version is is quite possibly the most important information to know when specifying equip- ment orders because qualification is only to that soware version on the equipment's QPL profile. is is an important connecting thread because any time a vendor updates its so- ware, it can break a connection to CFX, result- ing in integration issues on the factory floor. When considering a piece of CFX-qualified equipment, be sure to know its current so- ware version. If it does not match the soware version listed on the QPL, it is not qualified. Supported CFX messages (mandatory and optional) Clicking the View Qualifications button on each listing will display all the mandatory CFX capabilities for that particular piece of equip- ment, in accordance with IPC-2591. ese are the minimum requirements for a QPL listing for a piece of equipment. It is important, however, to view the Optional capabilities that the vendor supports for that particular piece of equipment. Each listing will show which Optional capabilities the vendor supports with that equipment and those it has chosen not to support. When specifying equipment for factory inte- grations, it is highly recommended that you view the listing of Optional capabilities for each piece of equipment and their relevant CFX messages, which is provided in IPC-2591. Equipment classification is identifies the specific equipment type that was qualified (SPI, pick-and-place, reflow oven). Vendors with equipment that does not have a specific classification on the QPL can qual- ify their equipment using the Generic classifi- cation. e Generic classification has a smaller subset of Mandatory equipment capabilities to at least demonstrate plug-and-play in a CFX environment. ese vendors also have the capa- bility to qualify as many Optional capabilities as they want, allowing them to demonstrate their full range of CFX support on equipment. is Generic categor y is especially appli- cable when adding new device types to IPC- 2591. ere will be a lag between the standard being released and newly added equipment being included in the qualification system, so the Generic listing allows vendors of these prod- ucts to have their equipment qualified. en they can requal- ify when the equipment-specific capabilities have been added to the system. Date of qualification For best visibility, this infor- mation has been moved from the drill-down list of supported capabilities to all front-end list- ings on the QPL. Similar to the
