122 I-CONNECT007 I REAL TIME WITH... IPC APEX EXPO 2023 SHOW & TELL MAGAZINE IPC APEX EXPO 2023 felt like the same show it always has been, and yet so very different. It felt like we'd been away from our childhood home, only to return and find some remodel- ing was done. So much felt familiar, and yet so many things had changed. Here is a list of changes that I observed during my week in San Diego. • Engagement: The conversations and meet- ings throughout the conference felt very con- nected. Some committee meetings reached record attendance records and the sessions I visited were uniformly high energy. That feeling of engagement carried to the show floor as well. Much of my show experience happened in our booth where I was conduct- ing Real Time with... interviews. There was so much news to cover, and so much enthusi- asm. I'm proud of the work the I-Connect007 team did to capture and present so much show content in just six days. Attendees made it easy for us with their high level of engage- ment. • Technical Program: The Technical Confer- ence team changed the acceptance criteria for papers this year. IPC Chief Technology Officer Matt Kelly shared in an interview that no longer would a paper be accepted based on its abstract; the entire paper was required. As to be expected, there were fewer papers accepted, but my understanding is the quality of the papers was consistently much better than in past years. When it comes to technical papers, quality wins out over quantity. With Evolving In All the Right Ways by Nolan Johnson • I-CONNECT007 show review
