million contract from DARPA to design and
develop a wireless airborne relay system to
deliver energy into contested environments.

program, known as POWER, aims to revo-

power beaming for near-instantaneous energy
transport in a resilient, multi-path network.

Wins $35 Million Through CHIPS Act E
e U.S. Department of Commerce and BAE
Systems Electronic Systems, a business unit
of BAE Systems, have signed a non-binding
preliminary memorandum of terms (PMT) to
provide approximately $35 million in federal
incentives under the CHIPS and Science Act
to support the modernization of the company's
Microelectronics Center, a mature-node pro-
duction facility in Nashua, New Hampshire.

Intercept Test E
e U.S. Missile Defense Agency and a Boeing-
led industry team successfully intercepted an
intermediate-range ballistic missile in space
during the latest test of the Ground-based
Midcourse Defense, or GMD, system. e
test validated GMD's Capability Increment 6B
configuration, which gives the Missile Defense
Operators more time, space, and flexibility to
intercept ballistic missile threats to the U.S.
homeland.
Nokia to Acquire Fenix Group,
Strengthening Wireless Offering
in the Defense Segment E
Nokia has signed an agreement to acquire Fenix
Group, a privately held company that special-
izes in tactical 3rd Generation Partnership
Project (3GPP) communications solutions for
the defense communities. Fenix systems are
designed to provide high-speed, low latency
data connections to many devices and users
simultaneously, making them ideal for support-
ing a wide range of military applications.
Boom Supersonic Selects Honeywell
Anthem Integrated Flight Deck for
Overture Aircraft E
Boom Supersonic, the company building the
world's fastest airliner, has selected the Honey-
well Anthem integrated flight deck for its Over-
ture aircra. As part of the agreement between
the two companies, Honeywell's next-genera-
tion flight deck and its modular avionics plat-
form will be incorporated into Overture.

MIT's Department of Aeronautics and Astro-
nautics (AeroAstro) recently hosted the 2023
Future Leaders in Aerospace Symposium,
inviting women and underrepresented minori-
ties in aerospace fields to campus for a two-day
program. e symposium was open to applica-
tions from recent graduates and students within
one to two years of earning their PhD, helping
early-career academics to launch and navigate
an academic career in aerospace engineering.
