82 PCB007 MAGAZINE I MAY 2024 Interview by Marcy LaRont I-CONNECT007 I caught up with IPC Europe Senior Direc- tor Philippe Leonard at IPC APEX EXPO, where he reflected on their involvement in Global Industrie in Paris and emphasized IPC's dedication to supporting the industry across Europe's diverse landscape. Philippe also shared his insights into silicon-to-systems, IPC's advocacy work, and the European elec- tronics market's current dynamics. Despite challenges like the chip shortage and geopoliti- cal tensions, Philippe remains optimistic about Europe's resilience and growth prospects. Marcy LaRont: Philippe, it seems many things in Europe are keeping you busy. Can you give us an update? Philippe Léonard: IPC Europe is putting a lot of effort into supporting the industry in all the different territories. Europe is a rather frag- mented territory with 27 countries and 24 dif- ferent languages, so we try to be present as much as we can in the different countries to meet local industry. Every year, we take part in local, national, and international shows like productronica and electronica, which are the largest European shows in our industry. Global Industrie is the largest trade show in France and, in my view, the second largest trade show in Europe for this industry. It's a very important opportunity for many differ- ent industries. It is important for IPC to have a presence at these shows because we can meet more members of the European electronics manufacturing community. It's an opportunity to promote IPC's work in providing technical and standards education to industry members The Global Industrie Show and IPC Europe
