Big Win for Defense Production Act
Budget Allocation in FY24 Budget E
One year ago, President Biden issued a deter-
mination that chips and packaging are criti-
cal for national security. Since that time, much
work has been done to continue the conversa-
tion in Washington, elevating the importance
of the entire chips value chain, and including
printed circuit boards and substrates, without
which chips cannot operate. On the heels of two
recent and substantial DoD award announce-
ments, the U.S.

NASA Doubles Down, Advances
6 Innovative Tech Concepts to
New Phase E
One of the "science fiction-like" concepts—
for a lunar railway system to provide pay-
load transport on the Moon—is being devel-
oped at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory.
NASA's Innovative Advanced Concepts pro-
gram (NIAC) has selected six visionary con-
cept studies for additional funding and devel-
opment. Each study has already completed
the initial NIAC phase, showing their futuris-
tic ideas—like a lunar railway system and fluid-
based telescopes—may provide fresh perspec-
tives and approaches as NASA explores the
unknown in space.
