IPC COMMUNITY 101 SUMMER 2024 Asia By Glenn Gong, Marketing Director, IPC Asia Active Engagement and Upcoming Events In Q2 2024, the IPC Asia team demonstrated robust engage- ment within the industry and has outlined several key initiatives and events to advance standards and education in the electronics manufacturing sector. April 6-11: IPC APEX EXPO Participation The IPC Asia team actively participated in the prestigious IPC APEX EXPO, setting up an engaging IPC Asia booth and initiating in-depth discus- sions with industry peers. This year, the event witnessed a record number of Asian exhibitors and attendees, underscoring the region's grow- ing influence in the electronics manufacturing industry. IPC Asia hosted an Asia dinner, bringing together technical experts and exhibitors from across the region to celebrate this significant industry gathering. Additionally, the IPC-6921, Requirements and Acceptance Specification for Organic IC Substrates, standards technical group successfully convened a global meeting during the exhibition. This meeting, chaired by Greatech Substrates Co., Ltd., marked a historic moment as the first Chinese company leading a global technical group meeting at APEX EXPO. Educational Initiatives To address local educational needs, IPC Asia developed and implemented a variety of training courses in 2024. In the second quarter alone, six courses were successfully held. These courses were based on crucial IPC standards, including IPC J-STD-001 and IPC-A-610 Automotive, IPC- 7095, IPC-TM-650, IPC-J-STD-020/033, IPC-A- 640, and IPC-6013. These training sessions are part of IPC Asia's ongoing efforts to enhance skills and knowledge within the industry, ensur- ing adherence to the highest standards of quality and reliability. Events In June, IPC Asia hosted the following events: • June 7: IPC President and CEO Dr. John Mitch- ell participated as a panelist at the Top Manage- ment Seminar on International Standards Strat- egy, organized by Keidanren, the Japan Business Federation. • June 7: IPC hosted the IPC Japan Advanced Packaging Symposium, focusing on the latest advancements and trends in packaging technol- ogies. • June and July: IPC Asia organized and hosted skills competitions in Thailand, China, and Malaysia, fostering a spirit of innovation and excellence across the region.
