At the roundtable, the Global Electronics Association outlined four strategic pillars to guide U.S.-Japan collaboration going forward: • Visible contributions to U.S. manufacturing and innovation including new capital invest- ments, job creation, and joint research • Supply chain standardization and visibility to enhance resilience and reduce vulnerabil- ity to disruption • Policy advocacy to protect R&D tax incentives and address tariff-related risks • Defense sector cooperation focused on secure and interoperable technology ecosystems Mr. Amari emphasized Japan's advanced tech- nical capabilities and its potential leadership in international standards development. He also highlighted the importance of understanding and adapting to the communication style of the current U.S. administration, starting from align- ment before moving to persuasion, based on lessons from past successful diplomacy. Global Electronics Association—East Asia is planning a U.S.-bound trade mission this fall to further strengthen trans-Pacific partnerships in advanced manufacturing and innovation. The Tokyo roundtable was a foundational milestone in that ongoing effort. Building on the success of the March event, Global Electronics Association—East Asia hosted a second Executive Roundtable in Tokyo on May 21. With the U.S. auto tariffs in effect, the roundtable featured more in-depth and prac- tical discussions reflecting the evolving policy environment. In an era of global uncertainty, electron- ics remain at the core of economic security and industrial growth. The Global Electronics Association remains committed to supporting trusted, technology-driven U.S.-Japan collabora- tion through advocacy, engagement, and shared innovation.
