USPAE and its partner Exiger held a workshop designed to bring together industry, government, and academia to develop rec- ommended solutions to quickly bring self-sustaining FPD manu- facturing capabilities to the U.S. • Staff from Sen. Hickenlooper's (D-CO) office on Capitol Hill were responsive to a meeting led by Rich Cappetto, senior director of EU Government Affairs and Gov- ernment Relations, which offered alternative remedies to support the growth of U.S. electronics manufacturing, not just chips but the entire electronics manufac- turing ecosystem. A R O U N D T H E W O R L D North America Joe Schneider is the newly appointed Global Electronics Association Vice President for the U.S. and Canada. His role involves ensuring that the Association effectively addresses the needs of the electronics industry in this region. He is focused on building strong relationships with our regional members, customers, and partners and identifying new opportunities within the electronics ecosystem. "Since joining the Global Electron- ics Association in April, I've been immersed in attending IPC/WHMA events, meeting our members, and integrating with our amazing team," Joe says. "I attended the Electrical Wire Processing Technology Expo (EWPTE), making many new contacts in the cable and wire harness manu- facturing industry." (You can find a story on EWPTE on page 54.) He attended two meetings in Wash- ington, D.C., which helped inform the work he is doing in the U.S. From those meetings, he learned: I look forward to sharing more stories about developments in the U.S. and Canada region and their impact on the global electronics industry. —Joe Schneider
