"These markets may be at different stages, but what connects them is a clear intent to build long-term capability and integrate into global value chains," he says. "We've learned that while the pace of progress varies, the hunger for knowledge, standards, and skilled talent is universal. Our model of supporting industry through training, certification, and technical collaboration is finding relevance across these emerging markets, and we're excited to be part of their growth story." Of particular relevance is Malay- sia, which is fast emerging as a strategic hub for electronics man- ufacturing, especially in semicon- ductors and advanced packaging. To support this growth, the Global Electronics Association appointed a dedicated Country Manager, Dr. Ranee Ramya, who is based in Pen- ang. She will drive efforts locally and work closely with industry and government stakeholders. While the manufacturing land- scape in Malaysia is diverse, from PCB assembly to high-end semi- conductor packaging and automo- tive electronics, "What excites us particularly is Malaysia's push into advanced packaging," Gaurab says. "Our goal is to enable Malaysia's industry with the right standards and skills to compete globally. We see tremendous potential here, and we're committed to playing a meaningful role." This led, in part, to developing IEMI in both India and Malaysia last year. "What makes IEMI truly impactful is its ability to create dialogue and collaboration among international companies, industry leaders, and policymakers," Gaurab says. "It's helped us lay the ground- work for key initiatives, form part- nerships, and build momentum for expanding the Global Electronics Association's training and certifi- cation footprint across India and South Asia. It reflects our commit- ment to being a catalyst in India's journey toward becoming a global electronics manufacturing hub." Looking Ahead Gaurab hopes to continue his suc- cess over the past four years as he pushes deeper into the Indian market and across the region. He enjoys the collaboration with San- jay Huprikar and David Bergman, two Global Electronics Association vice presidents who have offered guidance through their strategic vision for the region. "One of my favorite aspects of this role is meeting industry mem- bers and government stakeholders in various places of the region," Gaurab says. "It keeps me busy and increases my travel, but this has helped me understand the need for the Global Electronics Association." He's thankful for his department heads in regions, events, stan- dards, training, and administration that "have helped me look beyond the box. Their dedication and com- mitment have played a significant role in our success." He especially highlights Sneha Sreekantesh- waran, "for her capabilities to take on new responsibilities and efforts at team building," and for Manvi Kapoor, who has "increased inter- national flavor in IEMI through partnership development." Lastly, he recognizes Saurabh Saxena, who has given "a new momentum to the standards development effort in India." "I am inspired by Swami Vivekananda, because he is the greatest source of achievement, pride, and inspiration. He taught us unconditional love, reinforced the importance of giving back, and taught us how to be a better person. One of my favorite motivational quotes: 'Talk to yourself once in a day, otherwise you may miss meeting an intelligent person in this world.'" Gaurab Gaurab Who Inspires You?
