IPC COMMUNITY 32 SUMMER 2024 You went "all in" with IPC. What were you hoping to gain from the partnership? AS OES continues to focus on manufacturing and quality, we re-engaged with IPC to help us with employee training and certification, and to show our employees that the ownership is com- mitted to being a world-class EMS business. What specific production challenges led OES to subscribe to IPC's workforce training program? OES subscribed to IPC's workforce training as part of our strategic initiatives to be a world-class EMS business and our commitment to being an excellent place to work. We made additional investments in employee training as part of our five-year strategic plan. IPC workforce training was a perfect fit as an educational training tool for our employees. How did you implement the training program at OES? We have established dedicated training sta- tions for IPC workforce training, which has been going very well. We very much appreciate the fol- low-up, monitoring, and helpful advice from IPC to keep us on track with the planned schedule. After our initial couple of months, OES has been extremely impressed with the program. We have prioritized training and education on ESD, board handling, and IPC-A-610. The employees have been very receptive, and IPC has provided excellent support and tips on better adoption. We collaborated with supervisors and key operators to help us prioritize which courses we should focus on. This feedback was why we started with board handling and wire harness installations in our final assembly area and ESD and board handling in the PCBA manufacturing areas.
