74 PCB007 MAGAZINE I SEPTEMBER 2024 infrastructure, and increased our technology offering. We continue to expand and develop. Two years ago, we updated our systems to a new product line: We're not just doing rigid PCBs anymore; we are also providing pin- less and bonding technologies for the flex and rigid-flex industries. We opened a new auto- mation division that caters not only to our layup system but now to other processes, espe- cially in the wet process area, which seems to be a pain point for our customers. We are hav- ing a lot of success with that, but again, none of this would be possible without our custom- ers believing in us and buying and implement- ing our technology. How long did it take to get the new facility running? Faraci: We spent two years looking for a new site and found this facility in December last year. By April, we started moving in, and were fully functional this summer. Bringing up a new facility is a massive effort. What have you learned along the way? Faraci: In the new facility, we built everything up from scratch. It is a leased space, and I wish I could have purchased our own building. It's not cheap to manufacture machines on Long Island where we're located. If all goes as planned and our growth continues, we will look to purchase a building in the next few years. We want to have a plan for when that time comes. We want to take everything that we've done here with what we've learned along the way, so someday we can put it into a new place. Jesse and Tony, do you have any final thoughts or words of wisdom? Ziomek: Tony is a great leader. ere's a lot involved in putting up this facility, and it has been a big undertaking. Moving into a new facility is a big shakeup, and for our 20 employ- ees, it's getting them out of their comfort zones. It's important to focus on enjoying the process while keeping the end goal in sight. We always involve our people and try to have fun with it, even if it's hard. Tony made sure that our peo- ple had fun during the transition and made them as comfortable as possible. Faraci: We have a lot of young guys who've been here a long time. Several graduated from college and are still here 13 years later. ey've gotten married and started families, and it's fun to watch them go through these stages of their lives. Importantly, they love what they do even to the point that they're still here late into the evening when I want to go home. ey're always inventing, thinking about how to be more efficient, and they love the freedom to try new designs. When you have employees who are really excited about their jobs and what they do, it makes for a great company. I feel positive about the future of DIS. I couldn't agree more. It was great talking with you both. PCB007
