IPC COMMUNITY 60 FALL 2024 the government's current plans. IPC's Advanced Packaging Initiative is expected to have a signifi- cant impact on Japan's economic policies, making global coordination and collaboration increas- ingly important. Government Initiatives to Strengthen the Advanced Packaging Industry The Japanese government is actively working to strengthen the semiconductor and advanced packaging industry by increasing domestic pro- duction capacity, promoting research and devel- opment, enhancing human resources, fortifying the global supply chain, and supporting sustain- able growth through policy measures and dereg- ulation. The Role of Localization in IPC's Success in Japan The localization of IPC's services has signifi- cantly contributed to this growth. In Asia and Japan, high-quality translation is crucial to over- coming language barriers, especially for techni- cal content, which requires precise wording and careful word choice. With more than 50,000 Kanji characters and about 2,500 used daily, IPC translates its major standards, such as 001 and 610, along with guidelines, design documents, and white papers like 9111, 7091, and WP-028. Approximately 15 titles are translated and pub- lished each year as new or revised editions. Since discussions in the Japan Committee are conducted in Japanese, it is easier to gather sug- gestions and feedback from local companies, enhancing the IPC standards through global input. Milestones in IPC Validation Services in Japan Advantech Japan was the first company in Japan to receive IPC validation services, marking a significant milestone. This achievement high- lights the potential for further development and expansion of these services in Japan.
