IPC COMMUNITY 79 FALL 2024 Day 2: Technical Excellence and Industry Insights The second day kicked off with the highly anticipated Hand Soldering Competition, a tes- tament to the skill and precision required in electronics manufacturing. Simultaneously, the exhibition hall opened its doors, showcasing cut- ting-edge technologies and innovations that are set to redefine the industry. The inaugural session set a positive tone for the day. Sanjay Huprikar, IPC president, South Asia and Europe operations, delivered a warm welcome address for John Mitchell, whose key- note emphasized the critical role of a skilled workforce in the success of the electronics industry. The session concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Raj Mruthyunjayappa, chair of the Indo-American Chamber of Commerce, Karnataka. The subsequent panel discussion offered a deep dive into the strategic importance of defense and aerospace electronics as a crucial contributor to the global electronics trade. The panel included distinguished experts including Jeremy Hallett, executive chair of the Space Industry Association of Australia, and Sriranjani Sundareshan, SPM lead, EMS, Thales in India, who shared their perspectives on the future of electronics in defense and aerospace. The session concluded with a presentation by Hallett, who emphasized the growing impor- tance of the space sector within the broader electronics industry. His remarks, "Space Sector Electronics Requirements—Fostering Collabo- ration in the Indo-Pacific," highlighted the need for international cooperation in developing tech- nologies that can withstand the rigors of space exploration. Following this, Sriranjani Sundareshan delved into "Quality and Reliability Factors in Selecting Aerospace Suppliers," offering insights into the stringent requirements for components used in aerospace applications. Her presentation underscored the critical role of supplier quality in ensuring the safety and success of aerospace missions.
