IPC COMMUNITY 96 FALL 2024 North America By Brian Knier, Vice President, Marketing, Member Success and Sales During the third quarter, IPC made significant strides in workforce development programs throughout North America, increasing opportu- nities for individuals seeking careers in the elec- tronics manufacturing industry. Opportunity Next Colorado The IPC Education Foundation (IPCEF) was selected as a recipient of the Opportunity Next Colorado Scholarship Program, which aims to increase enrollment in Colorado-based post-secondary education and training pro- grams by prioritizing learners pursuing an in-de- mand or high-priority pathway. This opportunity aligns with IPCEF's commitment to building a talent pipeline for the electronics manufactur- ing industry and supporting aspiring engineers. Colorado's LPS Explorative Pathways for Inno- vative Careers, the "EPIC" Campus, produced 10 students who benefited from the $15,000 in scholarship funds, providing a maximum of $1,500 for each recipient. All students plan to attend college and major in a degree related to the aerospace industry. Stephen F. Austin State University IPC and Stephen F. Austin State University (SFA- SU)'s engineering department and Center for Applied Research and Rural Innovation (CARRI), along with IPCEF, have partnered to align aca- demic programs with the needs of the electronics manufacturing industry. SFASU's engineering cur- riculum will integrate IPC standards and certifica- tions, strengthening ties between academia and the electronics manufacturing industry to ensure that the curriculum is developed to meet evolv- ing industry demands. Hands-on training and micro-credentialing opportunities will prepare students to excel in the industry. By nurturing innovation, the partnership will expand the talent pool in the electronics manufacturing industry. REGIONAL UPDATES IPC Around the World
