56 I-CONNECT007 I REAL TIME WITH... IPC APEX EXPO 2024 SHOW & TELL MAGAZINE Ying-Chih (Ellie) Chiang Congratulations to Ying-Chih (Ellie) Chiang, a master's student at Yuan Ze University in Taiwan, for receiving the 2024 award for Best Student Paper at IPC APEX EXPO. Her paper was titled "High-frequency Signal Characteristics of Differential Striplines with Different Cu-Foil Roughness." "In this study, we modified the surface morphology of copper interconnects to promote the signal transmission performance of differential striplines at mmWave frequency bands," Ellie said. "We use the Groisse model and Huray model for analysis, and use VNA to ver- ify the simulated results. A comparison between the VNA measurements and simulation models was made and the dependence of transmission loss on the Cu interconnect roughness were well established in this study." Ellie's co-authors were Cheng-Yu Lee, Yu-Hsun Chang, Yu-Xuan Wen, Chun-Jou Yu, Wei-Ling Chou, and Cheng-En Ho, all from Yuan Ze University. This paper was presented during Technical Conference Session S13: PCB Fab 4: RF Materials, Low Loss Materials, on Wednesday, April 10. S&T Best Student Paper
